Prof David Stone, is Professor of Electrical Engineering and the head of the Electrical Machines research group within the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Sheffield, with projects on electric and hybrid electric vehicles, and energy storage, funded by the EU, the DTI and EPSRC.

He has led battery testing and management for over 15 years. The battery work, coupled to power electronics, have resulted in over 300 papers. Prof Stone manages the high-power battery test facilities, capable of testing both single cells and battery strings within temperature controlled environments and is the Sheffield lead on the EPSRC funded FEVER programme grant.
