Village Hotel partners with IONITY to install ultra-rapid charging points across its hotels

Village Hotel installs ultra-rapid charging points across 33 hotels as part of a national programme with IONITY, a leading pioneer in sustainable mobility solutions, to bring fast and convenient electric charging to electric vehicle owners.
IONITY charging points will be installed at our hotels, which can be used by the general public, local communities and hotel guests to recharge up to 80% of their electric vehicle in under 10-15 minutes. All chargers will be powered exclusively by renewable electricity sourced from wind, solar, or hydroelectric energy. They are delighted to support the Government's plans for 80% of all new cars sold from 2030 to be electric.
Kelli Turner, general counsel and director of ESG at Village Hotel Club, said: “The UK’s shift to a greener future requires action from all – particularly corporates. At Village, we’re proud to play a role in supporting this shift through the installation of ultra–rapid chargers across our estate. This not only allows electric vehicle users to charge much faster than a standard charger but also has the added convenience of allowing visitors to charge while at their local Village Gym, using our coworking space VWorks, or popping in for a coffee at our onsite Starbucks.”
The partnership with IONITY is a key aspect of Village Green - their ESG and sustainability strategy. They aim to have a positive impact on the communities we operate in, both environmentally and socially. As part of the “Stay Green” Environmental pillar, they are hard at work to minimise their carbon footprint, from optimising its building management systems to save energy, to switching to renewable gas and electricity, to create more sustainable spaces for their guests and local communities to stay, play, train and work.
Andreas Atkins, country manager UK & Ireland, IONITY said: “Ultra-rapid charging is a foundation of the EV revolution across the UK, making EV driving easier and more accessible than ever before. I am genuinely excited about our agreement with Village Hotels to deliver 33 charging hubs across their nationwide portfolio. It is an important collaboration for both the crucial Village Green programme and our plans to more than quadruple the number of publicly available stations and charging points in the UK by 2025.“
