Vauxhall names UK’s top EV-friendly family attractions

UK CIS News

Vauxhall has revealed the UK’s top eight family attractions for electric vehicle (EV) drivers, with LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort taking the number one spot.

The ranking is based on the quality of charging infrastructure on-site and nearby, as well as how many of the UK’s 15 most populous cities are within a 325-mile range – the maximum WLTP range of Vauxhall’s new Grandland Electric SUV.

LEGOLAND Windsor was crowned the most EV-friendly attraction, boasting 34 fast chargers on-site, 19 more within a mile, and 45 rapid chargers within five miles. The resort is within a single charge’s reach from 12 major UK cities. To celebrate, Vauxhall has launched a competition offering a family of four free park entry, fast track wristbands, an overnight hotel stay, a week-long Grandland Electric loan and complimentary EV charging.

Second place went to Chester Zoo, accessible on a single charge from all 15 cities and featuring 26 fast chargers on-site plus 40 rapid chargers nearby. The 128-acre zoo is home to more than 37,000 animals and multiple play areas.

In third place is Madame Tussauds London, which has no on-site parking but benefits from a dense charging network, 172 fast chargers within a mile and 304 rapid chargers within five miles, making it an ideal choice for families seeking an alternative to theme parks or zoos.

Other attractions in the top eight include a mix of theme parks, zoos and museums, compiled using Visit Britain’s list of popular family destinations and charging data from Zapmap. Vauxhall’s scoring considered on-site chargers, nearby fast and rapid chargers, and accessibility from major cities.

The new Grandland Electric, priced from £35,455 OTR after the Electric Car Grant, sits at the top of Vauxhall’s SUV line-up. It offers up to 325 miles of range from its 73kWh battery, 550 litres of boot space, and a high-tech interior with a 16-inch infotainment screen. A 160kW rapid charger can replenish the battery from 20–80% in as little as 26 minutes.

Steve Catlin, managing director of Vauxhall, said: “With the summer holidays underway, we know many families will be taking to the road for some fun days out, and we understand that peace of mind about where to re-charge their electric vehicle is a crucial part of the journey.”

Vauxhall, which now offers an electric version of every model in its line-up, says its research is designed to make planning EV-friendly family trips easier.
